Willard Brook State Forest

Tucked away just south of the New Hampshire border and outside Fitchburg, MA is Willard Brook State Forest. We decided to visit WBSF in search of another stamp for our Mass State Parks list. Willard Brook is a pretty standard state forest park with decent amenities. We checked out the beach at Pearl Hill Pond (just splashed our feet .... forgot the swim gear) which was nice but pretty busy due to the hot summer weather. To get away from the crowded beach we decided to venture around the pond on a tiny unmarked trail that ended up being LOTS of fun with beautiful flowers blooming all around. Logan loved that we were blazing our own trail and it seemed to him like we were in true wilderness. The walk took about an hour start to finish and was enough for all of us in that heat. The area we were in also seemed to have camping sites, which we may check out at a later date.

On the way over to the other side of the park we stopped in at the Park HQ, here we found our stamp. It was a little disappointing that the stamp was inside the building, since it meant stamp seekers would not be able to find it if the park HQ was closed. After that we drove over to the Damon Pond side of the park, here we saw the other camping area that also seemed to have yurts for rent. This would be a lot of fun if you wanted to try camping in a state forest but didn't have the equipment needed. Overall, this is great park if you're in the Fitchburg/ Leominster area and are looking for some outdoors fun.
